Mumbai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Sleeper: Delayed by Elections, Now Launching on 1 November
The launch of the Mumbai-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Sleeper Train faced a brief administrative hold due to regional elections and the Model Code of Conduct. It is now officially set to launch on 1 November, connecting the financial capital with tech hubs for a comfortable overnight journey.
The Indian Railways initially aimed to introduce the country's early Vande Bharat Sleeper commercial services by October 2026 (targeting the Dusshera festival rush). However, the launch window for this premium Mumbai–Bengaluru corridor has formally stabilized around November 1, 2026.
▶ Model Code of Conduct Constraints:
Legislative Council Elections: Biennial elections to the Legislative Councils in Maharashtra and Karnataka were scheduled for October 23, 2026.
Model Code of Conduct: Due to these elections, the Model Code of Conduct remained in force across concerned constituencies until October 31, 2026.
Administrative Rollout: Official commissioning protocols were momentarily deferred until October 31, successfully paving the way for the grand rollout.
